ProperConvert alternative: a converter that runs in your browser

By the StatementToSheet team · Updated

ProperConvert (by ProperSoft) is a desktop app you install on Windows or Mac; StatementToSheet runs in the browser with nothing to install. ProperConvert costs $19.99 a month or $179.99 a year and keeps files on your computer, and it handles more formats (IIF, QFX, QIF) and scanned PDFs. StatementToSheet is free for 5 pages a day and $12 a month for 200 pages, and is quicker if you only need Excel, CSV or QBO.

How much does ProperConvert cost?

When ProperConvert is the better choice

  • Your firm's policy says financial documents must never leave your computer.
  • You need QuickBooks Desktop formats like IIF or QBJ, or Quicken QFX/QIF.
  • You regularly get scanned statements from clients.
  • You convert a lot every month and a flat subscription works out cheaper.

When StatementToSheet is the better choice

  • You don't want to install or update software, or you work from a Chromebook, tablet or someone else's computer.
  • You need a statement converted now, for free, without a trial limit on how many transactions you can save.
  • Excel, CSV or QBO is all you need.
  • You want to share a quick, no-install option with a client or colleague.

Is uploading a statement safe?

ProperConvert's main argument is that nothing is uploaded. Ours is that nothing is kept: the PDF travels over HTTPS, is read in memory by our own converter (not sent to an AI provider) and is discarded when the conversion finishes. We record only the page count. The details are on our security page. If your rules forbid any upload at all, a desktop tool is the right call. Also see how we compare with Bankstatemently and DocuClipper.

Try it on your own statement

5 pages a day are free, no account needed. Your file is processed in memory and never stored.
