Bankstatemently alternative for converting bank statements

By the StatementToSheet team · Updated

Bankstatemently and StatementToSheet both turn PDF statements into Excel, CSV and QuickBooks files; the difference is what happens to your statements afterwards. Bankstatemently keeps every converted statement in a searchable "financial memory". We process the PDF in memory and keep nothing. On price, our free tier is about 15 times larger (5 pages a day vs 10 a month) and 1,000 pages cost $29 instead of $70.

The real difference: keeping your statements or not

Bankstatemently is built around storing what you convert. Its home page describes how "every statement you convert lands in your financial memory: kept, connected, and verified", so you can ask questions across all of them later, including from AI assistants. It states that data is encrypted in transit and at rest and that it is GDPR compliant.

StatementToSheet takes the opposite approach. The PDF is read in memory, you download the result, and the statement is gone. There is no document history to protect because there is none. If you convert client statements and don't want them sitting in another vendor's cloud, that matters. See exactly what we store (a page count, nothing else).

What Bankstatemently does that we don't

  • Financial memory: query your converted statements later, across months and accounts.
  • Bulk upload and document history on paid plans.
  • AI categorisation of transactions on the Pro plan.
  • Xero output, an API and developer tools.
  • A published accuracy benchmark and a list of supported banks by country.

When StatementToSheet is the better fit

  • You want converted files, not another place your statements are stored.
  • You convert a few statements a week and the free 5 pages a day is enough.
  • You process hundreds of pages a month and want the lower per-page price.
  • You want to see a row-by-row balance check before downloading.

How to compare them yourself

Take one of your own statements, ideally a messy one with wrapped descriptions or several pages, and run it through both. Compare the row counts and totals against the statement summary. Our converter needs no account, and you can also read how we compare with DocuClipper.

Try it on your own statement

5 pages a day are free, no account needed. Your file is processed in memory and never stored.
